boo bloody hoo

Funniest moment of the summer of sport? Quite possibly as Gideon “George” Osborne was roundly booed in the Olympic stadium yesterday as he presented medals.  He may be in charge of the nation’s purse strings but the look on his face was simply priceless; that moment when he went from laughing along at the japery to the dawning realization that the crowd were meaning every boo was classic TV .  He never looks that comfortable normally but this saw him plummet to new depths of embarrassment.  The games themselves have been extraordinary, the level of support incredible and the performances have lifted the heart.  The swimmers with no arms, the high jumpers with one leg and the wheelchair athletes amongst  all the other competitors are just remarkable; Super Humans, every last one of them.  Meanwhile in an office not so far way the LibCons hatch plans to cut disability allowances and introduce tough new entitlement tests.  Have they gone stark raving bonkers?  Now?  In the middle of the greatest celebration of disability ever in the history of mankind?  The fact that the slightly-autistic-scottish-fun-denier, a.k.a  oor Broonie got a warm welcome at the Games must surely ring some alarm bells with the Eton Mafia.
