public / private

Brendan Barber, General Secretary of the TUC, will this  week call on the Government to take note of the success of the Great Summer of Sport as he reinforces the Socialist mantra that “private is not always best”. The LibCons fascination with the Private sector and the belief that the Market is King has been blown away by the Publicly Funded success of the last twelve weeks. Publicly funded athletes in publicly funded stadia have delivered outstanding achievements to the benefit of us all. The free market debacle of G4S seems to support Brendan’s views; a security fiasco was diverted at the last minute as the Public sector stepped in to bail out G4S and its shareholders. He will also state his belief that the austerity measures aren’t working and the economy has become a giant laboratory for Gideon and his cronies to experiment on national economic matters. The massive public sector cuts have resulted in depressed and demotivated staff who are bearing the brunt of the austere policies. Meanwhile private sector bankers and shareholders continue to giggle behind their hands as profits remain buoyant and bonuses stay obscenely high. The ridiculous Government statement that it “can’t pick winners” and the market must decide will be news to the likes of Wiggo, Jess and Mo who have been supported by the public purse and have delivered supreme, publicly funded, success. Will the Public Sector rise again? Thatcher (the milk snatcher) will be hoping not.
