David Hockney lookey-likey Andrew Mitchell continues to lie low following his foul mouthed outburst last week.  He is accused of insulting a police officer outside Downing Street; about the only thing we can be certain of is that he used the word “pleb” when speaking to the rozzer.  His utter lack of respect for those he considers to be beneath him in the hierarchy of life is yet again fuel to the “out of touch” accusations that continue to dog the LibCon pantomime.  Mitchell is a dyed in the wool Tory; the son of a Tory MP.  His “best you learn your place” line to the boys in blue, if proven, really is a throwback to the days of class division and public school fagging shenanigans.  The fact that Mitchell feels that this is acceptable behaviour and that the police should merely doff their cap with a cheery “morning Guv’nor” brings home the divide that still exists in British Society.  The police have had a pretty dreadful week; Mitchells appalling behaviour does not help.
