New Clear Days.

More energy news this week as the LibCons jumped into bed with the French and the Chinese to give the go ahead for a new nuclear plant in Somerset.  In the week that households were told that bills are to soar because of “market pressure” (protection of profits) Cam and his ever ridiculous chums reckon that they have got a good deal and that they are able to fix the price we will pay for power.  Not now, you fool, but thirty five years in the future.  What do you reckon?  Do you really trust the Eton Mess on this one?  Given that they seem unwilling to curb the energy-behemoths now, do you think they can hold them to account in the year 2048?  Seems just a tad unlikely.  Leaving aside the build costs, the environmental damage, the safety and the fact that the profits will flood back to Paris and Shanghai, the fact that this decision will result in less investment in sustainable energy appears to have, yet again, been lost in the mud of contractual negotiations.  One thing is clear; we are going to need those “second-Cam-Jumpers” for a while yet.
