The late (great?) James Saville is to be outed as a paedophile by an ITV documentary due to be aired later this week.  What purpose this salacious gossip mongering serves is unclear; Jimmy has long gone, his fixing days over, his garish shell suits consigned to history.  Rumours dogged the gold wearing former wrestler when he was alive; he was investigated by the police back in 2007.  There was no case to answer on that occasion but ITV have dragged up several victims who will paint a picture of the DJ that is very different to his public persona.  Another celeb in the news over less than salubrious shenanigans is West Country funnyman Justin Lee Collins who, if allegations are to be believed, is something other than the lovable comic he portrays in public.  JLC is said to have physically and mentally abused his then girlfriend over a period of months.  At one point he reportedly tried to throw her under a bus when on a night out with Alan Carr…never had the camp-carr down as the wife beating type.   Celebrity must be so damn hard in these days of instant access and communication when every little detail of a life can be picked over and disseminated to the whole world at the click of a button.   At least JLC can defend himself; poor old Jim will be tried and convicted in his absence.  To (just about) quote the small boy talking to Shoeless Joe Jackson, “Say it ain’t so Jim…”.
